About the Opportunity

The Registered Pacemaker/Device Technologist performs routine testing on implantable pacemakers and Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICDs), determines normal function, performs troubleshooting as required and identifies performance trends. The Technologist is responsible for maintaining records both in chart and database format and identifying patients with implantable equipment that may be the subject of an alert or advisory. The Technologist acts as a liaison for patients, nursing homes, family physicians, and various departments within the institution and the device manufacturers.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Successful completion of a two-year BCIT program or acceptable equivalent
  • Successful completion of the BCIT specialty program Cardiac Sciences (Cardiac Rhythm Device Technology Option – Advanced Certificate)
  • Successful completion of a recognized Pacemaker Specialty exam (CSCT National Association or Heart Rhythm Society exam) is an asset
  • If the exam has not been completed, incumbent must agree to complete the recognized Heart Rhythm Society Specialty exam within 3 years of hire
  • Two (2) years of practical experience in advanced procedures required
  • Current registration and in good standing with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Manual dexterity required
  • Demonstrates independent judgment
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Permanent Full-time position; 75 hours biweekly

Compensation and Incentives

$34.02 – $38.58 Hourly
