Position will remain open until filled.The Opportunity:As a Language Assessor you will be responsible to assess clients for the Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment (CLBA), and the Canadian Language Benchmark Literacy Assessment (CLBLA). After assessment, you will refer the clients to appropriate Language classes based on their CLB levels. You will work as a member of a very diverse team and support the team to achieve its program targets & goals. You will establish an effective working relationship with the Language program team, and the community. Should you be successful, you will demonstrate commitment & understanding of DIVERSEcity’s vision, mission, and values.Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer the CLBA and CLBLA in accordance with the Canadian Language Benchmark standards and the policies at the Language Assessment Centre.
  • Successfully complete any associated training.
  • Refer clients to appropriate language classes.
  • Collect and enter client data to accurately complete an intake form, History of Assessment, Referrals and entry into the CRM and other filings.
  • Refer clients to the most appropriate Language Class based on language benchmarks and individual client needs.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date client files and documentation of services delivered.
  • Participate in settlement/language-related community events as needed.
  • Provide information to clients as required.
  • Conduct off-site assessments as required.


Med Tech
  • TESL Certified Educator with an additional 2 years of experience of assessing clients on CLB standards.
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent in a related field with TESL Canada certification.
  • Fluent in English, oral and written.
  • Successfully completed one-year ESL program recognized by TESL Canada with a minimum of a 100-hour practicum.
  • Meet Assessor criteria set forth by DIVERSEcity.
  • Strong computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and database programs
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity, interviewing skills, documentation skills, and decision-making skills.
  • Must have a working knowledge of immigrant services available in BC.
