At Rio Tinto, we believe the best ideas come from bringing people together with different perspectives to work toward a common goal – to create a better tomorrow.About the roleWe are offering an 12-months internship opportunity (up to 16 months) open to Mechanical Engineering students at our Diavik Diamond Mine in the Northwest Territories. This is a Fly-In-Fly-Out rotational role available from September 2024 (possibility to start before). Possibility to earn about asset management and work with heavy duty equipment. We are looking for a mechanical engineer to assist with reliability, performance, and equipment maintenance improvement projects of various scopes and complexities.The schedule is a 2 weeks on /2 weeks off rotation that includes working weekends and holidays. The rotations will consist of 12-hour daily shifts. You will be flown in/out of the Diavik site from Yellowknife or Edmonton for your shifts and all accommodation and meals are included in camp.What you’ll bring:

  • Pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Highly self-motivated
  • Outstanding organizational and participative skills
  • Excellent communication skills are required to liaise with consulting engineers, contractors and management
  • Have a valid driver’s license
  • Previous experience on a mine site is an asset but not necessary.
