Serving more than 30,000 students per year, we offer a suite of Ministry of Advanced Education-approved programs (occupational programs in massage, personal fitness trainer and funeral education; academic upgrading; and our Transitional Vocational Programming), over 60 programs and 350+ courses to support professional and personal development in a wide range of topics, and our Conservatory (which offers a broad range of music and speech arts programming). Our courses cover a wide range of topics, including but not limited to business, technology and health. These courses are offered in a variety of formats on campus, online, in the workplace, and in the community.About the RoleMount Royal University’s Faculty of Continuing Education is looking for industry professionals who are interested in teaching adults. As a part-time instructor, you will also have the opportunity to network with others while gaining valuable experience as a subject expert in your field.Presently, we invite applications for a qualified Management/Financial expert to teach an Understanding and Using Financials course in the Pillars of Management Certificate of Completion program. Classroom / Online instructors are contracted on a per course basis and are required to teach during set dates, typically 4 weeks per course for online and classroom is 2 days (15 hours).Please see our website for further program and course details: mru.ca/pillarsofmanagementResponsibilities:Instruction:

  • Lesson preparation
  • Marking/grading of assignments
  • Timely written and verbal feedback to students
  • Course outline preparation
  • Facilitate course delivery using approved curriculum and learning materials
  • Review and revision of course assessments
  • Applying relevant policies (academic accommodations, Code of Student Academic Integrity, etc.)

  • Host virtual Google Meet sessions with students once per week or at least twice during the course
  • Post regular announcements and participate in discussion board threads
  • An online instructor is required to access the course daily; however, there are no predetermined times of the day an instructor is required to be online. Online instructors must have reliable internet service throughout the entire period of the course.


  • Marking and submission of course grades
  • Maintain regular contact with the program administrative team
  • Participate in occasional instructor meetings and individual meetings with the program coordinator as required


  • Post-secondary and/or industry credential in a related field
  • 3-5 years of work experience in the management/financial field
  • Experience teaching, training, presenting or public speaking
  • Familiarity with adult education and adult learners
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Working knowledge of copyright and APA citation
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace
  • Proficiency with the D2L learning management system is an asset
