It will establish a 12 month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions.This job serves the communities of , , , and in the beautiful .Our teamMental Wellness and Substance Use (MWSU) Community Hubs provide a wide range of mental wellness assessment, treatment and support services in all Yukon communities outside of Whitehorse. Teams are made up of Child and Youth Clinical Counsellors, Community Counsellors, Clinical Counsellors, Mental Health Support Workers, and Mental Health Nurses who provide individual and group counselling, outreach services, harm reduction support, workshops, and community support. Our dynamic, creative, and strength-based team prioritizes collaboration with First Nation governments and community partners in our clinical work, to provide responsive wrap around mental wellness services to Yukoners in rural communities.Your roleThis position offers an incredible opportunity to enhance mental wellness services to the rural and remote communities served by MWSU Hubs. As a Mental Health Nurse in the Community Hub, you will play a pivotal role in supporting individuals navigating serious and persistent mental health concerns, including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and other psychosis-related conditions. Reporting directly to the Clinical Supervisor, Community (Northern Hub), you will play a crucial role in conducting client assessments, designing personalized treatment plans, coordinating comprehensive care, linking to speciality services and managing cases for clients with serious and persistent mental health concerns. Your expertise in performing detailed mental status assessments, particularly with clients experiencing psychotic symptoms, will be pivotal in providing compassionate, effective support and interventions. As part of our interdisciplinary team, you will collaborate closely with counsellors, social workers, support workers, psychiatrists, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers to deliver holistic care and address the diverse needs of the clients that we work with.This position offers an enriching opportunity to directly impact the well-being of the clients that we work with by ensuring they receive tailored care and unwavering support.   • Eligible for Registered Nurse registration with a Canadian registered nursing regulatory authority or a Registered Psychiatric Nurse licencing with PLRA
  • Experience in providing assessment, nursing intervention, and support services to clients with a range of serious and persistent mental health concerns (i.e., schizophrenia, bipolar, depression, anxiety, substance use concerns, interpersonal conflicts, etc.).
  • Experience providing psychoeducation to clients, families and support staff:
  • Experience with case management is considered an asset;
  • Experience working with rural, remote, and/or Northern First Nations, Metis, or Inuit communities is considered an asset;

  • Vulnerable Sector Security Clearance;
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent;
  • Verification of Degree(s);
  • Current Yukon Registered Nurses Association registration OR Professional Licencing, Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPN) through Department of Community Services
  • WHMIS 2015 (within one month of hire)

Job requirementsThis job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:

  • Exposure to clients who engage in unpredictable behaviour and may pose a risk to themselves or others.
  • You may be required to travel up to 10% of the time to rural communities in Yukon.
  • This position requires reaching, stooping, bending, carrying, sitting, and walking (awkward postures within these positions may also occur);
  • You may be required to support client transfers and repositioning (partial body weight of 100-250lbs);
